No-Scalpel Vasectomy:
Safe, Quick, and Virtually Painless
A modern, minimally invasive solution for permanent birth control—done in less than 30 minutes.
A no-scalpel vasectomy is a quick, virtually painless procedure for permanent male contraception. Using a small puncture instead of a surgical incision, the vas deferens are accessed, sealed, and returned without stitches. This technique reduces recovery time, minimizes complications, and allows most men to return to work within 1–2 days—making it one of the safest and most effective birth control options for men.
What is a no-scalpel vasectomy?
The no-scalpel vasectomy (NSV) is a modern approach to male sterilization, offering the same effectiveness as a traditional vasectomy but with less discomfort and a faster recovery. Instead of using a scalpel, your urologist uses a specialized instrument to make a tiny skin puncture in the scrotum. Through this small opening, the vas deferens (the tubes carrying sperm from the testicles) are lifted out, cut, and sealed—either by cauterization, clips, or sutures—before being returned to their natural position.
Because the opening is so small, the risk of bleeding, infection, or significant bruising is significantly reduced. The procedure usually takes 10–15 minutes and can be performed in the office under local anesthesia.
After a no-scalpel vasectomy, your body continues to produce sperm, but it is absorbed naturally rather than mixed with semen. This does not affect testosterone levels, sexual performance, or ejaculation volume.
The NSV method is over 99% effective in preventing pregnancy, but a follow-up semen analysis is essential to confirm success before discontinuing other forms of birth control.
